Who We Are

The Election Funding Authority is constituted as a corporation with the corporate name of the Election Funding Authority of New South Wales.

The New South Wales Electoral Commission is the administrative unit through which the Election Funding Authority exercises its statutory responsibilities.

 

The Election Funding Authority consists of:

  1. The New South Wales Electoral Commissioner as Chairperson.
  2. A member appointed on the nomination of the Premier of New South Wales.
  3. A member appointed on the nomination of the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly.

 

Authority members

Following the 2007 state election the following members were appointed to the Authority:

Appointed on the nomination of the Premier:

Mr Steven D Lewis

Appointed on the nomination of the Leader of the Opposition:

Mr Edward P Pickering

The term of office for appointed members of the Election Funding Authority commences 6 months after the return of the Writs for the previous state election until 6 months after the return of the Writs for the next state election. Members may be re-appointed.

The re-election of Authority members or new appointments will occur in 2011.

Election funding officers

The New South Wales Electoral Commission has a secretary and two full time officers in election funding administrative positions to perform the work of the Election Funding Authority and to provide a full range of services to stakeholders including candidates, groups, political parties, donors and the electors of New South Wales.
